Alexa is a beautiful and petite long haired cat that is about a year old. She is currently our longest resident at the shelter. When she was first brought into the shelter, she would try to escape every time you tried to open her kennel. And when you put your hand in to grab her, she would hiss and swat at you. Let’s just say she wasn’t the most loving cat. However, with some patience and a whole lot of love she learned to love the cuddles.

A few months after she came in, she was adopted by a very sweet lady that had recently adopted a small, timid dog from our shelter too! Everything was going very well, however Alexa quickly realized that she didn’t really like to share the attention anymore. She would go after the dog when she wasn’t getting the attention. So sadly, she was brought back to the shelter.

In GP, Alexa rules the roost. If she walks by, other cats will move out of the way. They know not to mess with her. She is often seen taunting the birds that hang out near the cat porch. She can hear the staff opening canned food from a mile away and will stare in the window until the bring it in. Alexa will then go around to every dish to make sure they are all empty.

What is really neat is that Alexa has developed a friendship with one of our other resident cats, Percy. They play together, eat together, and sometimes nap together. Maybe she realized having a friend isn’t that bad! She is a young and playful cat that will keep you on your toes. Shelter staff say that would just watch her play all day if they could.

If you are interested in meeting Alexa, stop by the shelter today! Maybe you would even adopt Percy along with Alexa...we do offer a discount for multiple cats.
